Not quite close enough Regarding Dave McKenna’s Nov. 20 Music Review “As close as a Genesis fan can get to paradise” [Style]:
Phil Collins did not play “a schoolboy in the Beatles’ 1964 feature film ‘A Hard Day’s Night.’ ”
The “deserter” schoolboy who banters with Ringo Starr in the film is David Janson (at the time billed “David Jaxon”). Collins was an extra in the final scene, one of the kids screaming in the audience as the Beatles played. He had no lines, was seen only very briefly or, in many cuts of the film, not at all.
Also, the writer’s assertion that Collins’s touring with Genesis makes him “seem the more selfless of the two Genesis frontmen” (the other being Peter Gabriel, who quit the band many years ago) was extremely weird. Gabriel is a passionate and dedicated global human rights activist.

For our discussion on ownership, consider the following examples. Kids arguing over a toy Airline: one person wants to recline the seat to sleep, the person behind want to use the tray table to work Disneyland line for the rides : are they really “first come first served?” Why does Disney sell passes to let uou skip the lines? Who “owns” the next place in line? You own your property, but an oil company could drill next down and extract the oil from under you. You own your property, but can a drone fly over it to deliver pizza to you neighbor You make a video of yourself playing Christmas tunes, but YouTube removes it because you do not “own” the songs Your data (about your politics, religion, purchases made) is packed and sold by Facebook. Do you own your data? Or does Facebook? Can you think of other examples? Add them yo the comments below.

So - what's our thinking on this? Should we continue meeting in person? Fall back to Zoom for a bit?

Arlington has announced that concerts are returning to Lubber Run every Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm beginning July 9. These are outdoor concerts and are free! The season looks great - download the brochure below or check out the county's webpage at https://arts.arlingtonva.us/lubber-run/ .

We're a small group of Arlingtonians who have been meeting since 1991. We have small potluck suppers and discuss issues. That's about it - we're an affable group of pretty darn good cooks.
